Pittsburgh Football Over/Under Wins 2009
September 5, 2009
The 2009 NCAA football season is here and once again more profits available in season win totals. There are always schools that exceed or fall short of high expectations set by the oddsmakers. When trying to predict the final records, you must place games into three classes…easy wins, automatic losses and up in the air games. Ideally you need to find a lot of sure results when determining which side you fall on. Your first bet is FREE when you open an account at the trust Sportsbook.com!
PITTSBURGH UNDER 7.5 wins
The Panthers are one of the numerous schools in the mediocre Big East who could be towards the top or fight the Orange at the bottom. There’s a lot of uncertainty in the conference with Rutgers, West Virginia, USF and Pittsburgh among those who could win it all. Upon first look in Pittsburgh you’ll find no LeSean McCoy who steadied the the running back spot in addition to LaRod Stephens-Howling who is also gone. The Panthers return 15 starters but are disabled by Dave Wannstedt who isn’t exactly a coaching mastermind. The schedule also doesn’t do the Panthers much good.
Automatic Wins (4): 9/5 Youngstown State, 9/19 Navy, 10/10 UConn, 11/7 Syracuse
Automatic Losses (2): 9/26 @ NC State, 10/16 @ Rutgers
Close Calls (6):
9/12 @ Buffalo — The Bulls played the Panthers tough in Pittsburgh before losing 27-16 to them and were only down 1 going in the 4th quarter. Pittsburgh lost to Bowling Green last season on their home turf and the Bulls have comparable talent. James Starks and Naaman Roosevelt will need to have a huge game for the Bulls to pull off the upset.
10/2 @ Louisville — The Panthers have lost seven of their last eight to Louisville closing out a seven game losing skid last season. The Cardinals bring back 13 starters and a deadly offense that will need time to work together with new QB Justin Burke, the NC State transfer.
10/24 vs. USF — Matt Grothe and George Selvie head the uneven Bulls. Last year Pittsburgh came through in Florida but the Bulls won the game in Pittsburgh two years ago. USF lives and dies by their strong defense and has shown they can win in hostile environments putting it on NC State last season.
11/14 vs. Notre Dame — The Irish will be much better this season and are 12-3 since 1988 against the Panthers. Last season Pittsburgh won 36-33 in four overtimes against the Irish in South Bend so want back will be on Notre Dame’s minds.
11/27 @ West Virginia — Revenge will be involved in this one as well. The Panthers have won two straight in this rivalry but Jarrett Brown and Jock Sanders head up an offense that can score a lot of points if need be. The Mountaineers may also feature the best secondary in the Big East.
12/5 vs. Cincinnati — Eight starters on offense return plus perhaps the best coach in the Big East in Brian Kelly. Cincy possibly need this game to make a bowl. Cincy won last year’s contest.
Close calls:
TCU UNDER 9 (+110) – Problematic road trips to UVA, Clemson, Air Force, BYU and a sneaky trip to Laramie could bring home the Under.
OKLAHOMA STATE OVER 9 (+110) – The Cowboys just have to win one contest out of the set against Texas, @ Oklahoma and Georgia.
